Flash flood in the City of Roswell and surrounding areas in Chaves County

On October 19, 2024, an anomalous severe storm event over the City of Roswell and surrounding areas in Chaves County, resulted in a flash flood that overwhelmed local drainage systems. Homes were filled with more than four feet of fast-moving muddy water, vehicles were swept into waterways, local responders lost vehicles and IT equipment, and more than 300+ residents required rescue in the middle of the night. Within 48 hours, Plexos Group's team was on the ground helping residents plan for recovery and working with local officials. Our team's work assessing damages supported receipt of the federal declaration and the approval of a Disaster Case Management grant in a matter of weeks. Today, Plexos Group is serving local governments, assisting with the FEMA Public Assisstance financial recovery process. Our Disaster Case Managers are working with 1,600+ residents to help them navigate the layers of recovery resources and obtain assistance needed to rebuild their lives. Plexos Group's professionals are also managing a full-scope right-of-way debris operation that has addressed the time-sensitive debris crisis and  which requires interagency coordination across federal and state permitting authorities. By being on the ground and starting recovery work with Roswell-area officials and residents immediately after this disaster, we aimed to prevent common challenges and obstacles while assisting the community to obtain the resources needed for recovery, building hope and earning trust.
