      Following devastating wildfires in New Mexico, the Plexos team is supporting the state with a comprehensive mitigation strategy that addresses immediate mitigation needs and increases the total amount of funding available to support long-term mitigation work across the impacted areas.

      Mitigation Strategies

      At Plexos, we execute hazard mitigation programs to address natural disaster risks and vulnerabilities. 

      Acquisition of real property for open space use

      Retrofitting structures to minimize damages from high winds, earthquake, flood, wildfire, etc.

      Elevation of flood-prone structures and minor flood control projects such as ring levees and floodwall systems designed to protect critical facilities

      Post-disaster building code related activities that support building code officials during the reconstruction process

      Below are summary of steps taken on Plexos Group's CDBG-MIT action plan:

       
      Requirements

      Assist the grantee to meet all FRN requirements, HUD timelines, and mitigation requirement

       
      Assessment

      Assist the grantee to conduct capacity and assessment to identify mitigation needs and use of CDBG-MIT funds

       
      Collaboration

      Coordinate with the grantee and other identified stakeholders to ensure the mitigation needs assessment and Action Plan are consistent with the current hazard mitigation plan

       
      Citizen Participation

      Develop Citizen Participation Plan and Outreach Strategy and conduct one (1) hearing prior to 45-day public comment period and one (1) after the public comment process has been initiated

       
      Program Needs

      Incorporate mitigation needs analysis and public input into the allocation of funding and design of mitigation program

       
      Communication 

      Translate document, post for public comment, respond to public comments and submit to HUD
